They are installing sidewalk along the south side of Ellsworth from Platt to Stone School and then down Stone School to Morgan. I wonder if this is part of that. Seems like you could have just waited to talk to somebody in Pittsfield Planning office to find out the deal.
http://pittsfield-mi.gov/index.aspx?NID=1532

I'm surprised you didn't know this was in Pittsfield Township. You might want to brush up on your local geography a little. Here's an easy way. Load maps.google.com, and search for "Pittsfield Charter Township, MI". The page will shade the outline of the town or township you search for. Try Ypsi and Ann Arbor, and Superior Township, Ann Arbor Township, Ypsi Township, etc. It's interesting to see how the cities and towns have grown and left the adjacent townships in pieces.

For the advanced class, you could learn to use the County's free web-based GIS server, called MapWashtenaw. You can easily find out who owns property, when it was sold, and see maps of infrastructure and rights of way.
https://gisappsecure.ewashtenaw.org/MapWashtenaw/Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10885440226478178206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3682497621979718307.post-5696530298915517622017-10-27T10:38:07.356-04:002017-10-27T10:38:07.356-04:00My hypothesis this is a part of the Township's...My hypothesis this is a part of the Township's pedestrian plan, but without forethought or regard to cost or practicality. Could be like the city of Ann Arbor paying millions for rail cars several years ago without any realistic plans for using them. Utter waste of taxpayer money, much worse than this bridge to nowhere.BobbyJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09931464627399575556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3682497621979718307.post-15118073128129536072017-10-26T17:48:02.751-04:002017-10-26T17:48:02.751-04:00Thanks for the comment. When that happened (2 years ago?) I looked into going to the auction to purchase the land but the auction was cancelled or never happened. I never heard back from anyone about why it was cancelled or what events took place. Odd how it is now just forgotten. Possibly zoning issues were too great and some jurisdiction mistake took place?SweetKellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14371447269598405508noreply@blogger.com
