On Anthony Bourdain: PWP contributor Brooks Parola.

By old buddy and fellow Flintstone Brooks Parola.

There are so many reasons to have an appreciation for Anthony Bourdain. Obviously what made him famous was his smarts and his gift of language.
I think we loved the fact that we had an articulate spokesperson for those of us who've slaved away in kitchens, and other tough jobs for little pay. But, just as importantly, I think there are plenty of Anthony Bourdain's; many very smart and articulate people slaving away in restaurant kitchens because they love what they do, love food, or are unfortunately unable to get other work, despite their smarts. Bourdain was our reminder of that.
