The Eastern Michigan Men's basketball team dominated the visiting Long Beach State 49ers by a score of 98-72 Thursday at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. It took a little while for EMU to get into the flow of the game, but by the 2nd quarter EMU effectively swept away Long Beach with a barrage of three pointers.
The 8-5 EMU Eagles shot 54% from the field (29 of 54) including 7 thee pointers. Not too shabby. Attendance for the game wasn't too shabby either considering students are home for Christmas break.
The leading scorer for EMU was redshirt senior Ray Lee who finished the game with 20 points. Willie Mangum and Jordan Nobles each added 15 points.
One thing that must be acknowledged is the giant knot that emerged on the forehead of EMU sophomore James Thompson after he crashed to the floor while rebounding under the net. The bump was the size of a Buick. Needless to say, Thompson did not return to the game, though he seemed to be okay.
Tuesday, Jan 3, EMU takes on Central Michigan to open the MAC season. Tip off will be at 7pm sharp. See you there!
