Parola Perspective In Brief: On common question asked by liberals in U.S. "If they can have universal healthcare, than why can't we?"

By Purple Walrus Press contributor Brooks Parola, formerly of Flint Town.
For years liberals have pointed to Europe and said: “If they can have universal healthcare, than why can’t we?” Now, at a point when large segments of our population are ready for some form of reform and universal coverage, these same liberals are unwilling to acknowledge that most European nations supplement government coverage with private insurance. Even in their calls for “Medicare for all”, they refuse to acknowledge that most people supplement it with private insurance.
Folks, I hate insurance companies with a passion, but I cannot understand how demanding that we get rid of private insurance altogether, demanding that millions leave their private plans, that they like, and can afford, gets us closer to universal care.
To me, such demands are not only completely unnecessary, but are a THREAT to achieving universal care, and a threat to winning in 2020.

Do you love small town Independence Day Parades? I know I do! Yes, our nation is deeply divided, stressed out and all kinds of mashugana (Yiddish for craziness) things are going on, but, hey, that doesn't mean we all can't kick back and enjoy a good old 4th of July parade, right?

The parade and celebration will kick off Independence Day at 11:00 a.m from the corner of Oakwood and Cross Street and will conclude in Depot Town at Rice Street.

Its going to be great. Don't miss it!

Statement From Attorney General Dana Nessel: MSU Lacks Credibility To Conduct Reliable Investigation

Editor & Publisher Jeff Brown.

According to a press release last Friday from the Attorney General's office, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel issued the following statement in response to the Michigan State University Board of Trustees’ decision to hire an independent investigator to determine how the school handled the Nassar case:

“Michigan State University lacks the credibility necessary to conduct a legitimate investigation. Over the past few years, it has launched several investigations including an ‘independent investigation’ conducted by Patrick Fitzgerald in 2016. Unsurprisingly, it has cleared its employees of culpability each time. There is only one way for MSU to regain the public’s trust and that is to waive its privilege and disclose all information in its possession about Larry Nassar to the Department of Attorney General. In other words, the University should leave the job of investigating to the professionals.”
