For years liberals have pointed to Europe and said: “If they can have universal healthcare, than why can’t we?” Now, at a point when large segments of our population are ready for some form of reform and universal coverage, these same liberals are unwilling to acknowledge that most European nations supplement government coverage with private insurance. Even in their calls for “Medicare for all”, they refuse to acknowledge that most people supplement it with private insurance.
Folks, I hate insurance companies with a passion, but I cannot understand how demanding that we get rid of private insurance altogether, demanding that millions leave their private plans, that they like, and can afford, gets us closer to universal care.
To me, such demands are not only completely unnecessary, but are a THREAT to achieving universal care, and a threat to winning in 2020.
