According to a press release from the Michigan State Police received by Purple Walrus Press Monday afternoon, on Monday, June 24, at approximately 4:30 am, the Michigan State Police Brighton Post received a call concerning a semi-truck in need of assistance. While the semi-truck was parked on the side of M-14 Highway, a second semi-truck lost control and struck it. The second semi-truck rolled over and caught on fire. According to the MSP, the crash occurred on eastbound M-14, in the curved roadway section near Barton Drive.
State Police Officers were not able to make it to the cab of the second semi-truck, as it was engulfed in flames on its side and blocking all lanes of traffic. According to MSP, the driver is deceased and the identity not known at this time. The driver of the first truck sustained minor injuries.
