VANTAGE POINT : BY PURPLE WALRUS PRESS CONTRIBUTOR BROOKS PAROLA

People say that we need to engage, listen, have better understanding of the other side...probably.
But, I'd also argue, that when large segments of the population have decided that it's okay to live in a post-factual world; that their feelings and opinions are as valid as contrary, factual evidence, when they don't have to follow basic rules of fair play...constructive debate and discussion is impossible.
The focus has turned to winning the debate or discussion at all costs, no matter how preposterous your strategy is for doing so...it has NOTHING to do with WANTING to understand.
