Eastern Michigan University held a 911 Remembrance Ceremony Monday morning, September 11 on campus. The ceremony began at 8:40 am at the location of the EMU 9/11 Memorial which is located at the corner of Cross Street and Perrine on the EMU main campus. The ceremony commemorated the over 3000 people, including first responders, who lost their lives in the terror attack on the United States on September 11, 2001.
During the ceremony there were prayers, a moment of silence, and taps. The National Anthem was also sung. A 14 foot steel beam that was a part of the World Trade Center South Tower is featured at the 911 Memorial at EMU.
Approximately one-hundred people, including law enforcement officers, participated in the ceremony Monday morning.
