HIP HOP PIONEER RUSSELL SIMMONS COMPANY PARTIALLY FUNDING ALL-NATURAL GROCERY STORE IN FLINT

A big thank you to hip-hop pioneer Russell Simmons. An all-natural "pop-up" grocery store is opening this weekend in the parking lot of the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church on Carpenter Road in Flint. RushCard, which is a company co-founded by Russell Simmons, is contributing in the funding of the grocery store. And get this, not only does the store offer natural food but it also offers free nutritional classes. Love it. As we know, nutritional information is extremely important in coping with the water crisis in the city.

In March Simmons visited Flint when he donated 150,000 bottles of water and spoke at length to Flint residents about the crisis. In a statement in March to M LIVE Simmons said, "What is happening in Flint is a reflection of how both the government, with the water crisis, and the private sector, with the fresh food shortage, have fallen short in serving community needs".

This pop-up grocery store speaks volumes for not only Russell Simmons, but for his company RushCard.
