Chicago teachers have gone on strike today and who can blame them? This is a massive strike. We are talking 20,000 teachers. Word is that it will be a one-day strike though it may stretch out longer. Striking teachers are demanding funding for basic classes like gym and art. Heck, they need funding for basic supplies! One striker who was on CNN wondered why kids in the city of Chicago can't have what kids have out in the suburbs? That sums up how many feel, and boy, isn't it the truth.
I would like to point out that in 2015 the Congressional Research Service (Sounds quite formidable doesn't it?) reported that, "The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have cost U.S tax payers $1.6 trillion dollars! Holy mackerel! That's a lot of dough! Yet, teachers are forced to make due without proper supplies and kids in Chicago are cheated out of classes like gym, art, and supplies. What a raw deal.
