There was a bomb threat Monday morning, February, 27, 2017 at the Jewish Community Center in Ann Arbor. The JCC is located at 2937 Birch Hollow Drive. I spoke with Lieutenant Matthew Lige of the Ann Arbor Police Department in front of the JCC around 11:30 Monday morning.
According LT Lige. "Around 9:20 am (Monday) a single call was placed to the Hebrew Day School connected to the Jewish Community Center. There was a single caller who was very specific that there was a bomb in a backpack and the backpack was about to detonate. That triggered a call to law enforcement." This according to LT Lige.
Ann Arbor police cleared the school with bomb sniffing dogs and did not find any suspicious packages or explosive devices.
According to LT Lige,"It is my understanding that there were similar threats to Jewish Community Centers in other parts of the country similar in content to the threat made to the JCC in Ann Arbor." LT Lige was clear that these reports are as of yet unconfirmed and need to be verified.
