The Michigan State Police (MSP) Training Division is hosting the 76th Fire Investigation I School, which began Monday, April 30 and concludes Friday, May 11.
Veteran prosecutors, detectives and fire experts will provide students with instruction on fire scene preservation and investigation training. Some of the topics covered include fire behavior, origin and cause determination, thermodynamics, explosions, arson motives and vehicle fires. Students will also participate in mock crime scene scenarios to practice their skills in crime scene preservation, evidence collection, fire investigation and media relations.
Completion of the Fire Investigation I School is the first step in the process of becoming a certified fire investigator. This according to the MSP.
