LOVE RESILIENCE ACTION YPSI PLANS INAUGURATION EVENTS / GRIEVES LOSS OF DIGNITY/ CIVILITY IN COUNTRY


Local organization Love Resilience Action Ypsi is planning several events surrounding the Jan 20 Presidential Inauguration. According to the organization facebook page the group grieves the impending loss of dignity, civility, and progress as our nation ushers in the Trump administration.

On Monday, Jan 16, Love Resilience Action is asking for the community to support and witness the teens of Ypsilanti Community High in their silent procession, and art show commemorating MLK Jr day and the anniversary of the Frederick Douglas address to Ypsilanti. This will begin at the Water Tower and finish at Mix Studio on Michigan Ave downtown. There will then be a teen curated art show.

On Friday Jan 20 from 7pm to 11:30 there will be materials available downstairs at Bona Sera to create your own sign, banner or other art for the march the following day. There will also be an open mic for music and expression.

On Saturday Jan 21 at 12pm a march will begin at Bona Sera restaurant downtown. the march will visit locations around Ypsilanti commemorating local historical abolitionist, black civil rights, women's rights, lbgt and union victories.

The march will return to Bona Sera followed by a celebration of PEOPLE POWER . There will also be a community gathering/resource fair with the goal of bringing people together. There will be a supervised child area.
